Event:   Defining M2M Services Capabilities: one step towards the Internet of Things
ETSI Technical Committee M2M's standards work for Machine to machine communications is reaching an advanced stage, and many Network Operators have expressed their motivation for having the first release of M2M standards completed by early 2011.

ETSI TC M2M is now finalizing the architecture for the service platform that will enable the integration of multiple vertical M2M applications. In addition the group is looking outside to the utilities and end users in order to consider what future trends may drive the development of their service offerings and eventually networks.

Many of the topics currently being researched under the label of Future Internet will also be relevant for the evolution path of current fixed and mobile telecoms networks.

In this context, ETSI is pleased to invite you to an open workshop on Machine to Machine Communications, to be held at the Agora, in Sophia Antipolis, France, on 19 - 20 October 2010.

The workshop is free and is open to non-members of ETSI upon registration.

The invitation is now open (closes on 6th July) for papers and presentations to be submitted to the workshop, on topics broadly related to Machine to Machine and Internet of Things technologies. Papers and presentations should consider the potential for standardization of these technologies and issues related to their integration and use in communications networks in the near to medium term.
