Phil Pettitt helped to plan and create innovITS before being recruited to become chief executive of innovITS. Prior to innovITS, Phil worked for about ten years in a variety of business development roles in QinetiQ, the R&D organisation. This was after many years in the IT industry in a range of consultancy, project management and research roles. He received his BSc in Computer Science at Essex University and an MBA from London Business School. He is also a Chartered Engineer and Member of the British Computer Society. He is a past chair of ITS(UK) and is theme chair in SMMT Foresight Vehicle for ASSET (Automotive Software, Sensors, Electronics & Telematics). He is also a member of the International Advisory committee for AUTO21, the Canadian Automotive Network of Excellence
Nick Clare

Nick Clare joined innovITS in the summer of 2006 as Technical Programme Manager looking after the Automotive Sector. Nick has some 29 years experience of the Automotive Sector having worked for a number of OEMs during his career. His career started in 1978 when he joined British Leyland cars as a graduate Engineer with a 20 year spell at Jaguar Cars and finally as Group Chief Engineer at LDV and was responsible for the development of the Maxus Van range. Nick, a graduate from Aston University in Birmingham, achieved his BSc (Hons) in Production Technology and Production Management in 1982 and is currently chair of the Co Operative Active Safety Group for innovITS.

Tony started in July 2006 and manages the innovITS technology programme portfolio and ITS Knowledge Transfer Network. He has many years experience within ITS senior management working on business and strategic development. This includes the management of delivering transportation policy and the roll out of major traffic technology programmes in London during the 1980s and ‘90s, and the development of Traffic Control for the Tram system in Croydon. He has also been involved in the management of major projects such as Motorway Telecommunications, ITS Infrastructure for the widening of the M25 and the proofing trials of the London Traffic Control Centre prior to its opening. Tony studied at London University and the City University London and has written a number of respected and authoritative reference books on ITS which analyse the global ITS industry, its trends strategically, commercially and in technology terms.

John Chatfield joined innovITS as Technical Programme Manager in November 2006. Prior to this, he was employed as Project Manager / Consultant with Vodafone, where he was involved in planning the introduction and testing of existing and future data technology for roaming customers. This role also involved the introduction of new technology within Vodafone's key account customers, tracking new business propositions to measure both customer experience and process capabilities for launch. John's career in the telecommunications industry spans 20 years, formerly for Panasonic Mobile as Product Development Manager and previously as Product Chief Engineer for Nokia. His experience covers project formulation through development trials, into manufacture. His role at innovITS is to facilitate the introduction of communications technology into the UK Transport Industry, together with the ongoing suite of projects at innovITS.

Richard Kemp-Harper joined innovITS in April 2007 to manage the content on the ITS KTN and to continue to develop the ITS Technology roadmap. Richard has several years of experience in academic research following his degree and doctorate from Oxford University, bridging Chemistry, Biochemistry and Medical Imaging disciplines. From 2001 he worked with Oxfam managing a collaborative corporate Intranet and web development projects, including developing strategic roadmaps for enterprise software development and deployment.
