The Intelligent Transport Systems KTN and Location and Timing KTN have run a joint workshop to develop the Location aspects of the ITS Roadmap that will be maintained by the ITS KTN. The intention is that the roadmap will be used both to help people choose the most appropriate technology when implementing ITS Systems, but also to identify gaps where further work is needed, as an input to government who must decide on R&D funding priorities.

The workshop included presentations on the capabilities of different location technologies and discussion on the strengths, weaknesses and challenges associated with those technologies. The presentations covered subjects including GNSS, eLoran, DSRC, RADAR, mobile cell and WiFi as well as the service and vehicle integration issues.
