The ITS KTN brings together industry, research and government stakeholders in transport, linking people with expertise in a broad range of technologies for sustainable mobility with diverse transport communities .
The aim is to stimulate development of products and services bringing improved efficency, environmental performance and customer experience to transport networks. Membership is free and will enable you to open up new concepts and opportunities through connecting with others in this growing community.
Through this site you can find out about KTN events and how to participate, view presentations and output from previous workshops, connect with other members of the network, join collaborative groups and publish articles of interest about your organisation and your technology needs or offers.

Presentations from Applicants' Briefing day now available

The presentation from the Technology Strategy Boards applicants’ briefing day on the 10th of November is now available, and the presentation on the scope of the competition can be found included in the Informed Logistics Competition folder.

CoASE Workshop on Integrated Safety Systems and Co-operative Systems
3rd December 2009
This workshop, based around the EU Framework Programme 7 (FP7) ICT call 6, will raise awareness of the ICT for mobility Environment Sustainability & Energy Efficiency call.

EU Framework Programme 7 ( FP7) ICT call 6 launches on the 25th November 2009 with a budget of €37m.

This workshop, jointly run with Transport iNet and funded by East Midlands Development Agency will cover the relevant themes within the call:-
• Field Operational Tests for Integrated safety Systems and Co-operative systems
• ICT-based systems and services for smart urban mobility and new mobility concepts
• Coordination and support actions in the framework of the Intelligent Car initiative
• International cooperation

Informed Logistics Competition now open
3rd Nov 2009
You can now register your interest in the Informed Logistics Competition. If you haven't previously done so, you will need to obtain a login for the TSB Competitions website by registering your details. Once you have received your confirmation email, you can log in, following the onscreen prompts to download and complete the relevant documents in order to register your interest.

Guidance notes for for applicants are available, and all key dates are shown in the KTN events calendar.

UK Transport Research Centre (UKTRC) seeks to recruit 8 PhD students

The UKTRC, announced by Lord Adonis in March, is to now open its doors to research students. Funded by the DfT, Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Scottish Government, the virtual centre is looking to recruit eight PhD students, as part of the £7.25m initiative to bring new social science insights to UK transport policy. UKTRC is jointly managed by Imperial College, University College London and the University of Leeds. Its activities are open to all UK academic institutions and the competition for PhD studentship funding is open to all ESRC recognised departments. Deadline for applications is the 18th Dec 2009. Dr Greg Marsden at ITS Leeds is co-ordinating the scheme. Please visit the ESRC website for details.

ITSS Market Research published to KTN
27th October 2009
"Market Analysis of the Intelligent Transport Systems and Services Sector", a document commissioned by innovITS and published in Nov 2008 has been uploaded to the KTN site. The purpose of this report is "to provide a better understanding of the commercial, technological and political dynamics of the global, European and domestic ITSS markets." It provides a comprehensive, longitudinal view of the industry and you may find it helpful, both as background reading and as reference. It has been uploaded it to a new group called Research and other useful info on the KTN - membership to this group is open to all registered members of the ITS KTN.
