facITS is an ongoing programme with the aims of:
- Developing an architecture for building or understanding cooperative systems and their components with an emphasis upon safety, security and integrity.
- Providing a framework for organisations to assess and build confidence in systems from suppliers or those with whom their systems need to cooperate.
- Acting as a basis for test and accreditation schemes
- Enabling trust and interoperability between systems and organisations.
The initial core facITS project ran for eight months to April 2009 and had the objectives of:
- Providing a method for determining the required data integrity and identify the associated levels of security controls, performance requirements and design rigour in the software and hardware development processes.
- Providing common terminology, which is understood across the various domains involved in ITS.
- Facilitating integration of functions and components from systems developed and provided by different organisations, to ensure each continues to function correctly and each maintain the level of data integrity required.
The key outputs from the project phase of the programme are available through the Intelligent Transport Systems Knowledge Transfer Network (www.its-ktn.org.uk). KTN membership is free and just requires a simple registration process.
The programme documentation can be found from the facITS programme group on the KTN. Once you have registered with the KTN please visit this page and ask to join the group to receive access to the documents and email updates of new documents added.
Presentations from the KTN workshops on the facITS programme theme are also available to all KTN members from the facITS workshops page. |
